One of two things
is true: either God already has your attention or He's trying to get your
attention. Or both.
Interesting,
isn't it, that God would even concern Himself with getting your attention?
I mean, with all the effort it takes to administer the universe, all the
needs of people besides you, people more important than you, it'd be easy to
think He wouldn't concern Himself with you.
But He does. I
know this by personal experience and I know it's the most unexplainable
mystery.
There are a
variety of ways Jesus might try to get your attention. He might use a
threatening life event to remind you of your mortality. He could use a
life challenge to remind you that you are not designed to journey through life
without Him.
He might use a
broken heart to show you how much He hurts when you're not connected to Him.
He might even let you have everything you thought you wanted so you could
realize that none of it fills your soul.
Jesus knows that
the fullness and permanence of life only exist in Him. He knows that's
how you were created; He knows that's Why
you were created.
So if God already
has your attention, keep it up. And if
He doesn't yet have your full attention—Listen Up. His is the calling
of a Lifetime.
Focus Scripture: 'Choose life in
order that you may live, you and your descendants, by loving the LORD your God
and by holding fast to Him; for that is your life and the length of your days.'
Deuteronomy 30:19-20
